Paper Development Workshop (PDW)

ICOS 2022 Pre-conference workshop

Trondheim, December 7, 2022

In the run-up to the 2022 ICOS-conference, a half-day Paper Development Workshop (PDW) will be held on 7 December 2022. The aim of this workshop is the discussion and further development of not yet published manuscripts in the field of organizational sociology possibly related but not limited to the conference’s topic ORGANIZATIONS IN A PLURAL SOCIETY.

We call for submission of short papers (approx. 5 pages) or full papers (10-30 pages). The PDW is open to the entire diversity of organizational sociology and is intended for researchers at all career stages. We welcome submissions from doctoral students as well as postdoctoral fellows and professors.

The PDW consists of a plenary session and subsequent roundtables. In the plenary session, we reflect on how to publish organization-related topics within the field of sociology and discuss how to develop competencies with regards to writing and publishing articles in organizational sociology. In the roundtable part, participants discuss their contributions intensively in small groups. The individual roundtables are complemented by distinctive researchers with extensive experience in publishing and editing articles, journals, and books. These researchers provide constructive feedback on the participants’ manuscripts.

Deadline for submission is 15 September 2022. Submissions should be sent to: pdw.icos@gmail.com

The submitted contributions can be of conceptual, empirical, or methodological nature. Notification of acceptance is expected by the end of September.

After being accepted, the participants submit (updated) full papers (10-30 pages) for the PDW by 15 November 2022. All participants are expected to read up to four contributions from other participants and comment on them during the roundtable discussion. By submitting a contribution, submitters also agree to their contribution being made available to other PDW-participants to facilitate an intensive exchange.

The PDW takes place in the run-up to the ICOS conference. Participants of the PDW are cordially invited to attend the ICOS conference as well. It is possible to submit the same paper for both the PDW and the conference.
